#everoursafterhours serves as a learn the “why” behind their work, to get to know photographers and videographers that are the game changers or ones that in their tiny little corner of the earth are just getting it done. i have always, ALWAYS, prided myself on the that community that i have the fortunate experience of knowing and featuring. for the past five years, i have surrounded myself with such a beautifully talented community of wedding photographers and videographers. so i’m just going to build on that this year and give them the spotlight they deserve. i’ll be highlighting photographers almost every week.  it’s just be a chance for photographers to kick back after shooting a wedding, grab a coffee, and have a lazy Sunday read.

and here it is, the last ever #everoursafterhours.  and rather fitting that it is with one of the first ever photography duos to ever support this blog.  i’m rather proud of these two.  they don’t fit into any crowd and they ignore the noise.  when something isn’t right in their books, they speak their mind rather than allowing it to go silent.  they’ve taken their hearts and passion to different levels and it’s shown so much in their work, life and family.  they fly under the radar, but keep and constantly capturing work beautifully and the way their brides and grooms love.  i’m really just thankful for the support these two have given this blog…no matter where they are in this world.  i’ve been lucky enough to meet these two in person and so i’m glad you guys get the chance to know these two.

THE WILLINGHAMS

How did you get your start in wedding photography?

One of our friends offered us a few hundred dollars, and a free meal, to shoot her wedding. We did it. It looked terrible, but she loved them. After that, we discovered ‘good’ wedding photography (Sean Flanigan, Jonas Peterson, Jeff Newsom) and were inspired to create less cheesy, more refined photos.

What is unique about your style of shooting?

We feel that the unique thing about the way we shoot is that we don’t just focus our efforts on photojournalism, or strictly focus on portraits…. we really put a lot of effort into both. In the end, the client gets the best of both worlds, and we produce a really solid product for them.

Include one of your images that is your most recent favorite and explain why you love it.

Here’s an image from a workshop we hosted, about a month ago, in the UK. The first thing we love about it is the location, We are big fans of the UK! Next, is that it has a classic Mini, and finally…. it definitely doesn’t hurt that the photo also features some pretty spectacular people!

What do you struggle with the most? Business wise or shooting wise.

Marketing!!! This is something that we will be tackling in 2016!

Where do you see wedding photography heading next?

We usually steer pretty clear of trends, both in our personal lives, as well as photography, so we really don’t know what will be the next big thing…. our best guess is laser beam backdrops from the early 90’s? Maybe?

If you could send one message to the wedding photography world, what would it be? (Basically, your life motto)

Be who you are, not who you think others would want you to be.

What drives you as a person and as a wedding photographer?

As people, our love for one another, and our love for our daughter. As photographers, we just love making art. It’s as simple as that.

What is it like to work as a team?

The first, and most important thing is that we really like being around each other, so that makes it really easy. Other than that…. we have different shooting styles, so we each bring something different to the table. We use different lenses also, which furthers the variety of what we’re able to produce. The longer you work with one team-mate, the more you know what to expect from them, and you are able to work around a situation quickly and efficiently. We have a great rhythm.

What makes you confetti throw at the end of the day?

We feel that having a solid relationship is the key to our happiness. We make each other our number 1 priority. At the end of every the day, we feel fulfilled, content..and happy. Happy enough to throw confetti, even.

head on over to THE WILLINGHAMS’ SITE and BLOG for much more their work.  it’s one that you don’t want to miss as they make their own mark on this wedding photography community.
